Boeing 767 scale model fabrication

Welcome to the scale model fabrication project of an ex-American Airlines Boeing B-767-223, N301AA (301). These complex scale models will be complete with every detail from when 301 was delivered to American up to the final fate when 301 was dismantled for spares.

Two scale models of 301 are being fabricated from scratch. The first one will illustrate ship  number 301 in her glory days with American, and the second model will be built to show what the plane looked like after being dismantled. Both models will be displayed with the full size cockpit to show how an aircraft is utilized, recycled and reborn so they can be used in an educational way.

About the builder:

Tom Flynn of Las Vegas , Nevada has been building scale models for over 30 years.   When Doug Scroggins approached Mr. Flynn, he asked him if he would be interested in building an exact duplicate of 301. Providing Tom with hundreds of drawings and photographs work started in February 2007. As the project continues, look for updates and photos here.

Only 14% of the original kit is used to build the 767. Here is the starboard wing halves, upper and lower, extensively modified to depict the various components inside. There will be over 200 individual pieces in each wing when complete. (Tom Flynn)

Most of the panels and doors have been cut out of the starboard fuselage here and the various bulkheads and other compartments will be added during construction. (Tom Flynn)

The aft cabin area void of equipment in the galley area, and the FA seats still intact prior to painting and weathering. (Tom Flynn)
